In 2013, Mario’s partnered with Eco Impact to help the environment by recycling its waste vegetable oil. Last month we reached a major milestone in our recycling program; we properly disposed of and recycled 33,587.5 gallons of vegetable oil. Now that’s a whole lot of fries!
So, what exactly does one do with that much waste vegetable oil? Eco Impact collects the waste oil from Mario’s restaurants throughout Trinidad and they take it to their facility where it is processed into alternative fuel.
Trinis love fried food, so there’s an abundance of waste oil to be collected and processed. They process so much waste vegetable oil, that they export a portion of it to the international market.
